writing workshop Getting Your Work Published: Navigating the world of publishing can be a tricky business. Perhaps you've finished your latest poem or short story and don't know what to do with it. Or maybe you're thinking about writing a novel but can't imagine how to get it published. In this workshop, we'll take a broad view of publishing and look at each step of the process, from getting your work ready for submission to finding markets to dealing with rejection. Join Naugatuck-based author Patrick Scalisi on Tuesday, Feb. 17 at 7 p.m. as we look at the current state of publishing and how to find a home for your work. Biography: Patrick Scalisi is a journalist, magazine editor and emerging author from Naugatuck, Conn. He has published fiction in several magazines, including The Willows, Neo-opsis and ReadShortFiction.com, among others. His short stories have appeared in a number of fiction anthologies, including An Honest Lie Vol. 2, Shadowplay and Penny Dread Tales Vol. 1. Pat also had the opportunity to serve as the guest editor of The Ghost Is the Machine, a bestselling anthology of steampunk-horror stories from Post Mortem Press. His debut book, The Horse Thieves and Other Tales of the New West, was released in July 2014. When he's not writing, Pat enjoys watching way too many movies than are good for him, reading more books than he has shelves for and listening to music (his tastes range from classical to classic and modern rock).
