Our History
The origins of the Woodbridge Town Library trace back to the establishment of the Clark Memorial Library in 1940. Over the years, the library has undergone several expansions, including a contemporary rear addition in 1969 and a more substantial expansion in 1999. Prior to the construction of the current building, the library operated out of temporary locations, including Town Hall in 1925 and the Center School in 1929.
Mary B. Mitchell served as the inaugural Woodbridge Town librarian until 1937. The 1969 addition was made possible through a charitable trust established in her honor. The initial funding for the library’s construction was generously provided by Noyes Dwight Clark, in memory of his parents, Dwight Noyes and Althea Clark.
