During an ultra fine-dining meal, two brothers and their spouses reluctantly come together to discuss an inexplicable crime committed by their sons against a homeless person. As the pretentiously over-the-top courses are presented by an obsequious wait staff, the brothers—one history professor and one politician—navigate the waters of sibling rivalry, privilege and morality. By the end, family secrets are revealed, and it becomes clear that the behaviors of the parents have been reflected in the actions of the sons. Based on the novel by Herman Koch.
