Join Mark Schenker, Senior Associate Dean of Yale College, for a discussion on Picasso and the Lapin Agile by Steve Martin.
What happens when Picasso and Einstein walk into a bar? Intellectual fireworks, verbal gymnastics, amorous intentions, and the arrival of a mysterious man in blue suede shoes. On an October evening in 1904, Albert Einstein and Pablo Picasso end up at the same small bar in Paris - the Lapin Agile. The two young geniuses, joined by an eccentric cast of characters, spar over art and science, their respective libidos, where inspiration comes from, and the promise and dreams of the 20th century.
Copies of the play will be available for check out at the library Circulation Desk.
This book discussion is part of our Picasso and the Lapin Agile program series with Long Wharf Theatre. Join the library and community at these special events and experience the play from the pages of a book to live on the stage. Join us for these other two events:
On Thursday, November 13 at 7pm the library will host a Talk Back with Director Gordon Edelstein in the Library Meeting Room. Edelstein will discuss the play and allow for audience questions. Actors from the show will also perform a scene from the play.
