Meet Woodbridge’s Inaugural Poet Laureate!

After interviewing multiple candidates for the position, the Woodbridge Poet Laureate Selection Committee is pleased to announce that it has selected Charlotte Allen as Woodbridge’s very first Poet Laureate!

Charlotte is a writer and educator who believes in capturing the resonance of the natural world & the miracle of being human through words. She is a firm believer in the wisdom of the land, the trees, and the young people who will steward the future of our world. Currently, she teaches Creative Writing and Literature Courses at Wilton High School. When she is not writing or teaching teenagers, you can find her teaching or practicing yoga, gardening with her husband Roger, or foraging in the local forests.

The mission of the Town of Woodbridge’s Poet Laureate Program is to celebrate the value of poetry and to use poetry as a means to inspire, inform and entertain the community. The committee believes Charlotte will fulfill this mission admirably, and are excited for Woodbridge to benefit from her talent and expertise.
